Cleared for publication: 7 names out of the 13 soldiers who died last night in gaza:
1. Staff sergeant Oz Mandaluvich, 21 years old from Atzmon. RIP
his father (that was himself a company commander in Golani) said: “I had a bad feeling, last sunday i took a train to Ashquelon and from there cached random car drives till Netivot, when i reached the military closed area, i searched till i found his unite, my Ozi smiled shyly and we huged. we were an hour together, before i went i told him “come, i’ll take a picture of you and your friends” and than i regreted and said “never mind, it will bring bad luck..” and he told me “you already took a picture of me with you!” in the last hug i told him “see you, son” after a couple of seconds i got my self together and called him again, and huged him, and i said “goodbye”. that was the last time i saw him.”
Oz left after him two parents, one sister (16) and one brother.
2. Staff sergeant Gilad Ya’akobi, 21 years old fron Kiriyat-ono. RIP
his best friend Niv told: “he fight his life off to serve in Golani, he even preferred to start serving laterso he could get the unite he wanted. he loved his team so much, when he got a treat to go for a course of sports trainer, he always said he can’t wait to go back to his team, i told him, why? you wont even see your house! and he said, “i don’t care, their my family, my life”.
3. Captain Tzvika Kaplan, 28 years old from Kibutz named Meirav. RIP
his wife told: “……people always told me, “you raise your kids alone!” and i always got mad and said “no, no i’m not” ‘cus even when you weren’t here, we could still feel your soul. every weekemd when you cam back home, it was like a never-ending party, we had so much fun, went to travel around the country. last weekend when you went to gaza, i traveled alone, to the Sahne, and sent you a picture telling you i found another pretty place, that is just waiting for you. i guess right now you’re going to a preetier place in haven, i’ll always love you, i miss you. you were my life, my light, my biggest love….”
Tzvika left after him a wife (Adi), and two kids, Elkana (5) and Nadav (3).
4. Major Tzafrir Bar-Or, 32 years old, from Hulon. RIP
his best friend, Ben told: “he ended his compete week as a top soldier, he fell in love with the army, with Golani.” he served in Lebanon, the west bank, and Gaza. “he was a simple, funny man, always positive, he survived so much.. he was a world champion. he was so humble and quiet, if you would see him in the street you would think he’s a high school student. he left us with an empty space, that i don’t know how or if we will ever close it. i hope he didn’t die for nothing, i hope this war will bring a change. quiet. peace.”
Tzafrir left after him a wife (Sivan) who’s in her 8 month of second pregnancy, and a little girl, 1 years old and a month, also he left two parents and a sister.
5. Sergeant Max Steinberg, 24 years old fron Be’er Sheva, originally from Los Angeles. RIP
Max was a lonely soldier (not from Israel), who decided to start serve in the Israeli army after he finished collage,
Tzvika Levi, who’s a lonely soldiers carrier told: “last week i talked to him and told him that the msot important thing to be is a good soldier, acted like you’ve been told. he answered “i know, all those talking about Israel teach us how to be the best humans and soldiers as we can be”.
6. Staff sergeant Shon Carmeli, 21 years old from Ra’anana, originally from Texas. RIP
Shon was a lonely soldier (not from Israel), came to Israel when he was 16 to live with his sister and serve in the army.
his friend Alex told: “he was like a second brother to me. i can’t even explain what a pure heart guy he was. we talked like two weeks ago and he said, “i don’t want to go to gaza again..” but to his Platoon he said he will enter in every price, even though we was injured in his knee. that just show what kind of person he was.”
Shon left after him two parents and two sisters.
7. Staff sergeant Moshe Malko, 20 years old from Jerusalem. RIP
his cousin Yosef told: “he went to a combat unite after his big brother. he was a smiley happy boy. he always helped at home and support the family and helped raising his two little twin sisters. last friday he talked to his mom, told her “she has nothing to worry and everything will be alright”, that was the last time he talked to her.”
Moshe left after him two parents, and 8 sibilings.
